Overview

Service Summary

Medology's on-site calibration service dispatches certified field technicians to your facility carrying a full mobile calibration laboratory — traceable reference microphones, couplers, pressure references, and measurement software. On-site is the recommended method for large diagnostic systems, sound suites, and multi-instrument facilities where shipping is impractical.

Importance

Why It Matters

  • Large audiometric booths, rack-mounted diagnostic systems, and sound field loudspeaker arrays cannot be safely shipped for calibration.

  • On-site calibration minimizes clinical downtime — instruments are serviced and returned to use the same day, without shipping delays.

  • Sound suite qualification (ambient noise measurement against ANSI S3.1) can only be performed in situ — it is impossible to replicate remotely.

  • Multi-instrument on-site visits reduce per-instrument cost compared to individual mail-in submissions.

Process

Service Workflow

01

Pre-Visit Equipment Inventory

Facility provides instrument list and service history. Technician prepares appropriate reference standards and schedules a visit window.

3–5 day lead time
02

Mobile Lab Setup

Field technician arrives with a self-contained calibration kit: B&K reference microphone, couplers, pressure manometer, and calibrated signal analyzer.

NIST-traceable kit
03

Sequential Instrument Calibration

Each instrument is calibrated in sequence. Booth qualification and ambient noise measurement performed concurrently if scheduled.

Critical step
04

Same-Day Certificates

All certificates are issued digitally before the technician leaves the facility. A consolidated facility report is emailed within 24 hours.

Compliance

Standards & Regulations

On-site calibration produces the same NIST-traceable certificates as laboratory calibration, with the addition of in-situ measurements that mail-in service cannot replicate.

ANSI S3.1Maximum Ambient Noise Levels

Sound suite ambient noise qualification can only be performed in situ and is included in on-site visit scope on request.

ANSI S3.6-2018Audiometer Calibration

All on-site audiometer calibrations are performed to ANSI S3.6-2018 specifications using traceable reference standards.

ISO 17025Field Calibration

Field calibration certificates reference the same ISO 17025 accreditation as laboratory certificates, with in-situ measurement noted.

On-site certificates are issued with the same traceability chain and ANSI-tolerance documentation as laboratory-performed calibrations. In-situ measurements (ambient noise, sound field) are appended as a separate annex.
